Has This Ever Happened To You...?

Back in the mid-1990's, I worked part time at a now defunct spiritual bookstore called D'Angels Place.  The owner was a beautiful woman I had befriended as we both shared a love of art by a particular artist that is famous for his angel paintings.  I remember I saved up and saved up for my first purchase of his work!  It was over $400.00!  a kings ransom for me.  The lady that owned this bookstore had inheirited a lot of money from when her father passed away and her husband worked a very comfortable job so the bookstore was more or less a hobby for her, rather than a true business and to be honest, I did more socializing than working.  When I first met her, I was a customer and just saw one side of her - empathetic, optimistic, spiritual and non-judgemental  and I really thought she was a great person based on those qualities she projected.  However all of that changed when I started working for her.  I soon learned that her calm, spirtual demeanor was a facade for a person that was just downright nasty, rude and selfish.   She would yell at her then husband on the phone, yell at me, and her two daughters.  If a customer walked in while she was in the middle of a rant, she would calmly smile and say "How are you today???" and just switch to her alter-ego.  It was almost bizarre.....One time she sent me out for lunch and after I brought it back, she didn't even look at it and then she declared that the bread was stale and ordered me to take it back and get a refund.  And the list goes on and on......I soon had to stop working for her because I could not reconcile the image she projected to her customers and the person she really was....Has  that ever happened to you?  When you thought you knew someone or they projected themselves as one way but were completely the opposite?

Thankfully as I have gotten older I have gotten more discerning and cautious....but sometimes ya just never know....

The Progress of Man

Wendel

I  am going to have to stop watching the news I have concluded....Today it seems like every time I look at the news - children being killed, kidnapped etc and then a story about some monster in NC that threw a bag of kittens into traffic because he didnt want to have them put down....I wonder what kind of world we live in sometimes.   It is soooo depressing...just makes my heart so heavy and sad.     There is a book out by V. Campudoni called "Wendal , His cat and the Progress of Man" reminds me of today's society and that  makes me wonder sometimes what society is coming to.  Today just makes me want to shut myself off from the entire world....People are sometimes barbarically cruel and I am just sick of cruelty....Is it me or does it seem to be getting more pervasive?

I wish I could hug my kids right now...I miss them soooo much.

Matilda's Enchanted Cottage!

Is this cool or what??  Tim and I went to Matilda's Enchanted Cottage on Fri nite.....

Check this out----it is an art gallery (a house that has been converted into an art gallery more specifically) and in the backyard they have cool folk rock bands in the summer.  They charge a 10.00 cover and you bring your own food and BYOB etc.  Cool art too.....cool place to hang in the summer!!

Wish I could have an art gallery that doubled as a concert venue!

Check it out!

Roswell Ghost Tour!!!

What an awesome evening -- Tim and I went to the Roswell Ghost Tour in Historic Roswell ---sooo cool!  Didn't see anything except what I thought may have been a small black shadow in the graveyard (couldn't really tell though).  When we were at the bandstand area, I began to feel a tightening around my neck only to be told 5 minutes later by our guide, Ponyboy, that someone had been hung in the exact spot I was standing --eerie.

New Altered Art Box -- Dark Rose

My first collage box "Dark Rose" -- Materials used: Everything I could find at Hobby Lobby

The poem on the box reads as follows: "

As you hold this in your hand,

Think of me and know that,

If I could, I would gather all the roses that ever bloomed,

wrap them in golden ribbons and lay them at your feet"

Look for it on Etsy today!!!!!!

Jamaica Mon!

032 OMG!  What an awesome vacation I had!!!!!   So many adventures to tell and so many great memories including the freak we sat next at dinner our first night there (POT! Puck!  F***! or whatever the hell he kept saying)   , Chiara and Eugenio,  the cab driver who whilst smoking a fat daddy going down a curvy road all the time singing an impromptu song "Joint after joint after joint" (ya mon that is how we do it here in Jamaica!),  The guy in the hot tub to Tim "Can I give you a hand? Are you sure I can't give ya a hand?", the guy who came out of the bathroom with toilet paper literally stuck to his butt!!! It's one thing to have it stuck to your shoe but on your butt at the naked pool - ahahaha!   , The Jamaican man that gave Tim the ULTIMATE compliment, the time we took the taxi and the cab driver, Perry said "Hey mon -we gonna stop at the park first" in the BAD part of town (we were sweating there for a minute --Okay Christine if anything bad happens you just run for the police station and I will be right behind you).....Perry was cool - he knew more about American politics than most Americans.  How cool is that driving down the road with a 60 year old Rastafarian cab driver talking about politics?  I love to hear what other people from other countries think about us....Plus when we went to Xtabi for dinner --- Me: "Gee I wonder where all the spring break party people are?"  Tim: "Gee I just wonder the people are period" Hahahaha!  Walking down the beach and trying to avoid the "braid lady"  "You sure you don't want ya hair braided mon?  Let me put some aloe on you mon -- this is why Jamaicans don't burn because we put aloe on"  (Tim laughs) why you laugh mon????? uhhhh..nevermind.....Respect Mon!
